Promotion is an important part of marketing, but promotion is not about making sales.

Promotion is about getting yourself and your product known. Promotion is a long term investment which can eventually lead to sales

If you are not good at writing copy, or thinking of unusual angles to a story, you can use a public relations (PR) consultant to assist you. Just remember that it is important to have a promotional plan for your business, closely linked to your marketing plan. You must budget for promotion as well as for product development.

The easiest way to promote yourself is by having people talk about you and your product/service. If a person likes what they buy they will tell others. Therefore part of your promotional plan must include strategies to ensure excellence in customer service.
